Avalon Urgent Care is a local medical urgent care facility.  They have a great place, but they were a little hard to find. 

Sometimes a problem has an easy design solution like a map.  We made the map really graphic and used the contrast of the light colored front with the turquoise from their logo.  I like doing this a lot on business cards.  I think it is a way to cath the eye and make a statement without using your precious 3.5×2 space.

When we first moved to Granbury I was immediately drown to the Opera House.  I love art and culture, and all things musical. I remember telling Tycen I wanted to do their theater posters and be very involved. I now work right next door, you can see my building to the right in the picture.  I also have a part in the play coming up in a few weeks "The Odd Couple."  Wish me luck!

I went last night to see the Buddy Holly performance, and I am so excited to be in a place that has so much history and art.

The logo to the left was one I was excited to use for the Opera Guild.  Something quick and simple, but I really love it. It stands out really well on their marketing materials, and it holds up in all types of applications.

I was in a meeting a couple of weeks ago when a pirate walked in.  Tom Baker with the Pomegranate House came to explain about the Granbury Pirate Invasion. 
I said to myself, I must do that poster. It just sounded like so much fun.  There will be cardboard boat races, a lighted boat parade, and treasure hunts for all ages.

Like everything these days they had a small budget, so we put a lot of effort into posters, and I made a quick one page website to fill in any schedule and changes as they come about. 

This has been a super fun project, and they are still working on some of the details.  But, if you are near Granbury, TX October the 10th you should drop by.  Arghhh.

Saturday we spent the day on a video shoot for a promotional / music video for Ryan McBride.  Ryan was talented and great to work with, and I really look forward to this particular video. It will be a performance video for his new single "Rewind."

We shot at Ft. Worth Sound studio, the Ft. Worth water gardens, and the famous Stock Yards. It was a hot day, but we kept it fast and drank lots of water.  It was work, but it was really a lot of fun!

It is 102 degrees, and we are playing Christmas carols to get in the Christmas spirit.  We have been working on our Holiday Collection for whistlinghens.com and I have to be honest, I just wasn't in the mood until I finished this illustration.  A little research on exactly what a partridge is, a little imagination of a pear tree, and this is what we have.  These will be with pink envelopes, and the front has some space to print your party info, or holiday message.  I think everything will launch the end of August, so check the website to order, but I just wanted to share. 

 

Amy Goetz worked on Lori Woehl's logo when she first started.  This logo fits Lori's personality so much.  This is one of our happiest clients, and I am always excited to see her projects come together.
When I decided to include some professional photos on our website and our e-blast I knew I wanted Lori to take them.  Both Amy and I take lots of photos for clients, but it was great to have someone with a fun personality that we could trust take our photos.  If you would like to sign up for our e-blast or see our new photos online, check out our website www.amyklemerdesign.com.

This logo included the turquise and brown color scheme in a totally different way.  Amy G. worked in Adobe Illustrater with great detail to make the letters fit together perfectly.

Western Bling

I wasn't real sure how I could make this western bling stand out among the crowd.  This look is so popular, so I really wanted it to look custom.

We are still working on some of the content, but I just posted Cowgirl Fancy.com.  We integrated Etsy, as the shopping cart tool to keep her costs low.  Etsy gives my client the control she is looking for with posting pictures and products along with the price tag of a static site.  We used the good ole' animated gif for the home page images, and static HTML and CSS for the rest of the site. The request was for brown and turquoise.  I used the patina of the copper and beads from my turquoise bracelet that broke to bring depth to the color pallet. I added crystals to the logo, and the footer and incorporated the western font from the logo throughout the site.  The footer is my favorite part with the scalloped edges and crystal detail. 

If you have asked me what I am working on lately, you have probably heard me mention this project.  It has been a huge undertaking, but something that has been worth the effort.
Red Dirt Rebel started at the beginning with just a concepts, and we are now putting on some of the finisheing touches to make some of the applications more user friendly

We started the design process with the logo and incorporating a grungy look with the classic dobro guitar. We grunged it up with a tattoo font and banner.

In some applications, like her business cards, we use the logo on a red snake skin.  I defiantly think I need red snake skin boots after this is done.

For the website I found a grungy WordPress theme and really made it ours by adding the snakeskin, and adding a few touches with the logo in the background. We used WordPress and Buddypress to launch this social network for Texas Country Music.  Tycen shot and edited the music videos on the home page, and John Wade helped with the php development.

I first went to the CAC of Hood county to help my friend Julia Pannell with a mural. I only helped for a couple of hours that day, but I met the wonderful staff and was enthused to have the opportunity to help with an art program they have recently started. I was also excited when they asked if I could help with a logo design.  They were using a child's drawing, and really liked the idea because the center is all about children. 

Another interesting thing they are doing at the center is having every child that enters put thier handprint on the wall.  It has been really cool to see this wall grow with colorful handprints, and I knew I wanted to incorporate that idea into the logo. 

After working with a few different concepts on how to marry those ideas, I came up with what you see here.  I used my wacom tablet to draw the sun with the handdrawn effect and used a crayon paintbrush in Adobe Illustrator.  The handprint is from another project I never got to use, but I incorporated with the sun, using the fingers of the handprnt as yellow rays of sunshine:)

I am sure this isn't the final version, but I did want to share.
